Fan camps out at Westminster Abbey for royal wedding
A royal enthusiast has begun camping out in front of Westminster Abbey for the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton.
John Loughrey began his week-long vigil on Monday night, saying he planned to stay in his position to ensure a prime spot for the event.
The 56-year-old from south-west London said: "I have always been loyal to the Royal Family."
He was dressed in a Kate and William T-shirt stating "Diana Would Be Proud".
The former assistant chef, from Wandsworth, a self-confessed "super fan" of the late Diana, Princess of Wales, wore images of Kate and William tied round his waist and a Union flag hat.
He said of the Royal Family: "We have had them for more than 1,000 years and they make a great contribution to the life of this country."
Mr Loughrey also spent four days camped outside following the death of Diana in 1997.
He said he thought Miss Middleton and William would be together "forever".
"They have taken their time over marriage, unlike the prince's late mother - she got married maybe far too young," he said.
"The prince has learned from his mother to take his time."
About 200,000 people are expected to flock to Hyde Park and about 20,000 will gather in Trafalgar Square, where screens will show all highlights from the royal wedding on the day.

Death Photos Of Princess Diana - News

In fact, since Princess Diana's death, Buckingham Palace itself has become much more media savvy. And tougher, if informal, arrangements to stop royals being harassed by the press in their off-duty hours have come into effect. "You've got people around

Diana had been in a car accident in Paris, a colleague told me. The Princess had a broken arm, but her companion, Dodi al-Fayed, was dead. Later the phone rang again. Diana, Princess of Wales, was dead. That news turned what was a slightly tedious

While the editors tried to make the report more interesting by adding a timeline and a picture, it would not be sufficient in today’s webby world. If this tragedy happened today, web tools and interactive graphics would be used to draw readers in.
For example, this picture of the car crash is okay, but if it went online it would definitely be in color. There might even be a 3-D model where the viewer could rotate the model around to see the crashed vehicle from all sides. The picture doesn’t really describe where the car was hit, the location, or the extent of the damage. I personally think it is cropped too tightly.
Another element included in the front page story is a short timeline of the night’s events. This timeline titled “Diana’s Last Moments” are only four elements long. In today’s twitter and facebook world, people want timely details in an interesting format.
I like how the New York Times did this timeline about the Iraq War with links to the different dates, audio and text files, transcripts, videos, and photos. Another similar timeline is one that the Washington Post did about the careers of McCain and Obama. I really like how this graphic allows the readers to track both elements on the same timeline and read more when you click on the links. I think a combination of these two would provide a great baseline for Princess Diana’s accident timeline. It needs to be succinct, click-able, informative, and eye-catching.
I’m in love with the photo galleries in the Washington Post. The black background on the flipper makes it look very professional and the captions are helpful to identify who is in the photo, and when it was taken. As with all interactive elements, there are links to share the gallery through email, facebook, twitter, etc. A photo gallery to accompany the Diana post would include pictures of her wedding, the family, perhaps even the last photo taken of her at the Ritz Hotel. Diana was a fashion icon and she was really a trendsetter in the 90s so I believe readers would really love a look at her styles at different eras of her life.
